The first time the Triple Crown racing series has started in Belmont Park, Belmont Stakes has seen its first winner in New York since 1882 in Tiz The Law.

Saturday's race was run for almost four lengths, as Tiz The Law gained strength in the end, overtaking the rest of the 10 horse field.


Jockey Manny Franco, who rode Tiz The Law to the finish line, won the Triple Crown's first triumph of his young career.

Tiz The Law won the Belmont Stakes with a late flourish, passing through a faded Tap It To Win on the stretch in almost four lengths. Tiz The Law finished ahead of second place Dr Post and third place Max Player. Tap It To Win dropped back to fifth place.
