Vanessa Bryant opens ‘one more letter’ from Kobe on 38th birthday

On Monday, the day before her 38th birthday, the wife of basketball legend Kobe Bryant found "one more letter" from her late husband.

It's been three months since former Los Angeles Lakers superstar Bryant, his daughter Gianna, and seven other people were killed in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California.

"Yesterday I found an envelope labeled: The Love of my Life. From, Tu Papi," Vanessa posted on Instagram. "I was waiting to open another letter on my birthday. It gave me something to look forward to today.

"The irony is that Kobe had a picture of me drawn with an angel holding me up by an artist on the cover. Missed the love of my life and my sweet little Mamacita – my colleague Taurus. Grateful to wake up to my three sweet girls in today. Wish we were all together. #MyBirthdayWish. "

Kobe and Vanessa got married in 2001 and wanted to celebrate their 19th wedding anniversary last month.

Vanessa marked the day with a photo of Kobe kissing her cheek.

"My king, my heart, my best friend. Happy 19th wedding baby. I miss you so much. I wish you were here to hold me in my arms. I love you."

Along with Gianna, the couple has three other daughters; Natalia, Bianka and Capri.

Gianna would turn 14 years old on May 1st and Vanessa paid pay homage to her daughter last week by asking friends, family and fans to go red, her favorite color.
This week, Kobe made a posthumous appearance on Netflix "The Last Dance" documentary describing Michael Jordan's career, focusing on the winning team 1997-98.

In his appearance in the fifth episode of the docu-series, Kobe reveals how Jordan mentors him.

"I had a question about shooting this turnaround shot, so I asked him about it," he said. "He gave me a great detailed answer. But to top it off, he said," If you ever need anything, call me. "He is like my big brother."
