Home deaths related to coronavirus increased by more than 2,500 within a week, according to the Office of National Statistics (ONS).

There were 5,890 coronavirus-related home deaths recorded as of April 24 in England and Wales, up from just over 3,000 the previous week, reported the Office of National Statistics.


Of the deaths involving coronaviruses to date, 19,643 (71.8%) occurred in hospitals and 7,713 occurred elsewhere.

Of these: 5,890 occurred in nursing homes, 1,306 in private homes, 301 in hospitals, 105 in other community establishments and 111 in other places.
