UFC fighter pulled from Saturday’s card after positive Covid-19 test

Souza was going to fight against Uriah Hall in a middleweight. In addition, his two corners also tested positive for Covid-19, the UFC said.

The UFC medical team examined Souza and his two corners and found that they are currently asymptomatic, or do not show the usual symptoms of Covid-19, the UFC said in a statement on the site. "According to the UFC's health and safety protocols, all three men have left the host hotel and will be self-isolating from premises, where the UFC's medical team will monitor their conditions remotely and provide assistance with necessary treatment."

The UFC said the three have followed health and safety protocols, including practicing social distancing, wearing protective equipment for personnel and self-isolating whenever possible. No other positive Covid-19 tests have been reported among those who participated in UFC 249.

"The response to these developments is an indication of the effectiveness of the health and safety measures the UFC has put in place for this incident," UFC said.
