Mike Tyson chose his five favorite modern-day fighters, but omitted WBA (Super) heavyweight champion, IBF, WBO and IBO, Anthony Joshua.
AJ's heavy rivals, Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder, received mention after their dramatic pair of WBC title fights, which saw the first fight end in a draw and the second final in a dominant seventh round TKO for the Gypsy King .
Andy Ruiz Jr, who beat Joshua in June 2019 and then lost to him at the end of that year in December, was also chosen by the Badest Man on the Planet.
Tyson ended his choices with Vasyl Lomachenko and Floyd Mayweather's protégé, Gervonta Davis.
Speaking on his Hotboxin podcast with Mike Tyson, the former undisputed heavyweight king said, "I respect Tyson Fury, I respect Deontay Wilder, I respect all these guys.
“Andy Ruiz too, this guy called [Vasyl] Lomachenko – he's a fucked up animal, man. He's a master, it's like he's dancing.
"There is also Gervonta Davis, there are a lot of guys who are good fighters."
Tyson also deplored the current state of boxing, blaming promoters for denying fans the successful fights they most want to see.
"The situation is whether they are going to fight," he added. “Prosecutors are not allowing them to fight each other. I would love to see them fight, but prosecutors don't want to do that.
"This [boxing] it is very political now. That's why I think that in the next two months you will find that there are new players in the game and that will be really serious. "
Despite despising AJ in the top five, Tyson was praised by the Brit when asked about him last month, saying, "He's really clean, he really looks clean, he's a clean guy, he's a clean fighter, he's a good fighter.
“You just want the best for him. I do not know. My ego says: & # 39; no one would beat you & # 39; – but you look at him and … he just looks beautiful.
“He looks like a fighter, you know? It looks like he was born to do what he has to do. He needs more experience, of course, but it will come in life. "
