Troops neutralise 80 bandits, rescue 17 kidnapped victims [ARTICLE]


Brigadier-General. Benard Onyeuko, Acting Director, Defense Media Operations, made the disclosure during a press conference at Army Super Special Field 4, Faskari, Katsina State.


Onyeuko said: "The objective of the operation is to support Operation Hadarin Daji in fighting the tides of the activities of armed bandits, cattle thieves, kidnappers, incessant murders and other crimes in the northwest."


He revealed that troops also arrested 14 informants for bandits and their collaborators in operations in the states of Sokoto, Katsina and Zamfara last month.



Onyeuko added that the troops also rescued 17 kidnapped victims and destroyed the camp of the notorious bandits in the Dangote Triangle, their logistical base and several other camps.

He also revealed that the troops recovered 943 cows, 633 sheep / sheep during the operations.

Other weapons recovered included seven AK-47 rifles, a general-purpose machine gun (GPMG) and 16 cannon guns.

"Gallant troops will continue to dominate volatile areas with confidence, building patrols, ambushes and liberation operations to deny bandits and other elements freedom of action.

"The achievement is even more evident by the active resumption of agricultural, social and economic activities by local communities, with less fear of threats in their localities". he said.

According to him, the Army Chief of Staff (COAS), Lieutenant-General. Tukur Buratai, praised the troops for their gallantry, successes and professionalism displayed in the operations.

Buratai asked them not to give up on their efforts to end banditry and other security threats in the country.

In extending Sallah's message of goodwill to the people of the northwest region, Buratai reiterated his commitment to restoring peace in the restless region.
