The Army said its troops in Operation Lafiya Dole continued to degrade Boko Haram and Islamic State terrorists for West Africa (ISWAP) in the Northeast.
Media coordinator Colonel Aminu Iliyasu, in a statement on Sunday, said that some terrorist informants have recently been arrested.
According to him, troops from the 159 Battalion deployed in the local government area of Geidam, in the state of Yobe, met with the terrorists on January 19 and neutralized some criminals.
He suggested that many insurgents had escaped with injuries, while two AK-47s, five magazines and 45 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition were recovered.
Colonel Iliyasu added that the joint tactical team sent in the states of Borno and Yobe has arrested a Boko Haram recruiter (Zainab Usman) in the Modu Sulemri area, in the Abujan Talakawa region, wing of the Maiduguri Metropolitan Council.
Preliminary investigations have shown that the suspect is a wife of Alai Usman, a high profile logistics provider for ISWAP.
According to him, the suspect is believed to be in contact with other high-level Boko Haram / ISWAP commanders, helping them recruit young combatants.
He added: “This month, troops from the 212 Battalion deployed in Auno, Kaga municipality, Borno state, together with elements of the joint Civil Task Force, arrested Ahmed Yakuba, an informant from the West African Province of the Islamic State at high profile in a location south of Auno. Village.
