Buying a Toyota vehicle in India will be an expensive affair, as the main Japanese automaker has announced a price increase on its models in the country, including the flagship offering the Vellfire MPV and the Camry Hybrid sedan. Toyota Glanza, Yaris, Innova Crysta and Fortuner will be more expensive, as the price increase of up to 2% was applied from June 1, while prices for Vellfire and Camry Hybrid will be increased from July this year, due to the substantial increase in the exchange rate, explains the company.
The company mentions, "Toyota Kirloskar Motors announces the realignment of prices on our models with an increase of between 1 and 2%. This increase is necessary to partially recover the substantial increase in the cost of BS6 and the higher costs of inputs due to the exchange weak During these test periods, our effort was to absorb the cost increases through our internal efforts and only a minimal portion was reflected in the prices. The price increase is effective as of June 1, 2020.
As a customer-centric company, we reinforce our commitment to meet the growing needs of our customers. Toyota Kirloskar Motors has always been aware of minimizing the impact of rising costs on consumers and has absorbed the additional cost ".
Toyota Fortuner prices have gone up by Rs 48,000, while the same for Innova Crysta could go up to Rs 65,000, depending on the variant. Yaris' prices have risen sharply with an increase of more than Rs 1 lakh, while Glanza's have risen by Rs. 25,000.
