A Texas deputy died Tuesday after exchanging gunfire with a suspect fleeing a site visitors cease, police say.
The incident involving the Panola County officer, who has not but been publicly recognized, occurred round 2 a.m. exterior of Carthage, based on Panola County Sheriff Kevin Lake.
In a press launch, Lake mentioned the deputy pulled over an SUV “when the motive force out of the blue exited the car and fired a weapon on the deputy.”

Shreveport Police spokeswoman Christina Curtis instructed KSLA that Newson was noticed touring in one other car earlier than crashing and rolling it. He reportedly was taken into custody after a foot chase and being bitten by a Ok-9.
As of noon Tuesday, Newson was within the Shreveport County Jail. His bond has not but been set.
