Sanwo-Olu will mark a year in office with the inauguration of projects

The Lagos state government has lined up a week-long program to commemorate Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu's first year.

He swore on May 29, 2019.


To commemorate the event, several programs were programmed, beginning with a speech by the governor.

During the weeklong ceremonies, Governor Sanwo-Olu will embark on the virtual and on-site inauguration of housing, education, transportation and road projects, fulfilling his promises to renew infrastructure in critical sectors of the economy.

He will visit Ikorodu to open the 360 ​​Lagos Homes Igbogbo Baiyeku IIB Estate. In Lekki, Courtland Villas at Femi Okunnu Estate will also be launched to mark the administration's first year anniversary.

In the educational sector, Governor Sanwo-Olu will conduct the virtual inauguration of classroom blocks completed at the Maya Secondary School, Ikorodu; Eva Evaja Junior School, Bariga; and Salvador Primary School, Ifako-Ijaiye, among others.

The virtual inauguration of completed works, such as the Concrete Pontoon in Baiyeku, Ikorodu; the Aradagun – Ajido – Epeme road in Badagry; and the Maryland Signaling Project is also part of Mr. Governor's itinerary to celebrate a year in office.


However, before May 29, Governor Sanwo-Olu will deliver a speech on Children's Day on May 27, which coincides with the 53rd anniversary of the state of Lagos.

The anniversary commemorative events are instructively discreet to reflect the realities and challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. This is no time to be involved in any elaborate celebration.

The Governor, however, considers it essential to give an account of his service to the Lagosians since he was elected, a year ago.

In the coming days, birthday programs will begin at J.J.T Park in Alausa, with a summary of news from members of the Executive Board. Honorable commissioners and special advisers will present their scorecards together with the six pillars of the T.H.E.M.E.S.


In the sessions, EXCO members will approach accredited reporters to cover the daily briefings scheduled for May 27 to June 3, with two daily sessions, starting at 10 am and 1 pm.


Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi; Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tunji Bello; and Education, Ms. Folashade Adefisayo presenting her scorecards to the public. Other EXCO members will also take turns to approach the press daily for the entire period scheduled for ministerial press meetings.

Three special publications highlighting the achievements of the Sanwo-Olu government, as well as testimonies from beneficiaries of government initiatives, are scheduled to be presented to the public by Mr. Governor and his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Kadri Hamzat, on May 29.
