Samsung announced the first 50 MP 1.2 micrometer (μm) pixel sensor called ISOCELL GN1. This is also the company's first image sensor to offer Dual Pixel and Tetracell technologies.

Samsung's ISOCELL HM1 also appeared on the Galaxy S20 Ultra. The 50 MP ISOCELL GN1 builds on its predecessors and adds more features to the megapixel sensor.

According to Samsung, GN1 takes image sensor performance to a new level, with a combination of high light sensitivity for low-light stellar photos and autofocus speeds at the DSLR level, optimized for more dynamic photography experiences. Samsung ISOCELL GN1 started mass production this month.

Highlights of the 50 MP ISOCELL GN1 sensor include autofocus with 100 million phase detection autofocus agents (PDAF) and Dual Pixel technology that places two photodiodes side by side within a single pixel that can receive light from different angles . phase detection.

ISOCELL GN1 has the ability to detect and focus on a desired object or object in motion from all corners in an instant, even in low light conditions. It has a software algorithm that collects light information from each photodiode to produce image resolutions up to 100MP.

The sensor features tetracell technology, a pixel fusion technique that improves the ability of pixels to capture and process more light. Smart-ISO intelligently selects the ideal ISO and real-time HDR that captures the scene in multiple exposures simultaneously.

ISOCELL GN1 comes with a gyroscope-based electronic image stabilization (EIS) that captures sharp images and videos, even when in motion, and video recording capability with resolution up to 8K at 30 frames per second (fps).

According to Yongin Park, executive vice president of sensor business at Samsung Electronics, the company is at the forefront of offering high-performance image sensors. "ISOCELL GN1 is part of this commitment to provide stunning images to consumers in any environment," said Park.
