Mohamed Salah joked that Liverpool beat Manchester United 2-0 on Sunday because they were back due to injury.
Egyptian international Salah lost the 1-1 draw between Old Trafford's teams – the only Premier League game in which Liverpool have not won this season – due to an ankle injury.
In preparation for the return match at Anfield, the 27-year-old boldly suggested that Jurgen Klopp's team failed to stand out because of his absence.
Liverpool were 16 points ahead of Manchester City's closest rival, still holding a game in hand, after Salah grabbed a long ball from Alisson after a corner in the second half, increasing Virgil van Dijk's score in the 14th minute .
"As you can see today, I came back from the injury and we won the game, so I'm really happy for the team now," joked Salah to Sky Sports. “We took advantage of the moment and hope to end like this.
"I received a pass from Alisson, nobody else got the ball for me, but I am very happy with the result, that is the most important thing".

Liverpool lost the Premier League title by a single point to City in 2018-19, with a loss to Pep Guardiola's team in January 2019, followed by a series of four draws in six league games.
Having lost by such a narrow margin in the last period, Salah asked his teammates not to take their foot off the accelerator.
"I think we need to focus on each game, we don't need to think that we have won the Premier League now," added Salah.
"We have to keep it game by game, it's the only way to win the Premier League. We fought last season at the same time, so we have to stay calm and focus on each game.”

Jordan Henderson, who saw a shot from David de Gea in the shot in the second half, thought Liverpool were a good value for the 2-0 win, but also pleaded with teammates not to anticipate.
"When it's 1-0, it's dangerous, we know that in the Spurs game. I feel like we should have killed the game earlier with the chances we had, but we moved on, defended well and got the second one at the end, which we deserved , I think, ”said Henderson.
"We are not really thinking about the end again. Why should we change now? Why think about the end of the season? There are still a lot of games left.
"We have accepted this in every game for a long time and it puts us in a good position, so there is no need to change. For us players, it is the next game, the next challenge. United played well sometimes today, but I felt like if we deserved the three points.
"At Liverpool, there is always an expectation of winning and being successful, and I hope that doesn't change for long."
