Rivers State police arrested a notorious kidnapper and serial killer, Anthony Ndubuisi, in the state government's Umuebulu Etche area.
The suspect in Ngo-Okpala, in Imo State, is said to have carried out several kidnappings and murders of his innocent victims, including three foreigners and a Nigerian.
Police officials said the arrest was made possible by agents of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit in Operation Sting after information-led policing.
Ndubuisi confessed to police officers that his recent criminal act was the kidnapping of Ajumiene Offor, who was lured from Aba to his home by a commercial transaction, but kidnapped and killed on June 9.
After the investigation, the suspect took the agents to his home in Umuebulu, where he pointed to a septic tank that contained the bodies of his victims.
In the exhumation, the police recovered three human skulls and the decomposing body of its recent victim. They were evacuated and taken to the morgue for an autopsy.
Items recovered from the suspect include two bombs and some cartridges.
Addressing journalists on Tuesday at the exhumation site, police commissioner Joseph Mukan condemned the incident.
However, he declared a total war against the perpetrators of heinous crimes in the state, advising the public to be more security conscious.
The chief of police asked residents of the state to report all suspicious characters and movements through the following numbers: 08032003514, 08028915462 and 08182157778.
