Police crush child trafficking union operated by pastor

Agents from the Child Anti-Theft Unit at Akwa Ibom State Police Command destroyed a child trafficking union operated by a 27-year-old pastor and two other women.

The accused, Pastor Ndukeabasi Isaac Bassey, general superintendent of the Alpha Ministry along the Akpabong intersection, Mbierebe Obio in the local government area of ​​Ibesikpo-Asutan was arrested for deviating from his priestly calling to engage in illicit business.

A press release signed by CSP N-Nudam K. Frederick, Akwa Ibom PPRO confirmed that Mercy Bokime, an auxiliary nurse and a 26-year-old woman whose name was given as, Theresa Anthony Aaron, from Nna Umiang, Mbierebe Obio in Ibesikpo -Asutan were also arrested.

The suspects, according to the statement, committed the crime under the guise of running a church and offering medical services to people, allegedly conspired among themselves and sold a baby from Knaete Philip Obedience, from Nna Umiang, Mbierebe, delivered on November 10. 2019.

The suspects who sold the baby on the N300,000 admitted to sharing the profits from the illicit business along Stadium Road in the Uyo local government area, the statement said.

He declared that they would be charged before the court after an investigation into the case was completed.
