On Saturday, Lagos State Police Command officers said they had arrested four people for allegedly killing a 16-year-old girl in Bariga, state.
Police were arrested when Bariga police officers received information that a 41-year-old Shade Moke conspired with three others on February 29, 2020 and killed a 16-year-old Halimat Sodiq for alleged theft.
It was concluded that the victim was a home help to Shade Moke and she was accused of stealing her employer's N2000, which she denied.
The employer allegedly invited the remaining three suspects who tortured the girl to death and secretly buried her in the Atan cemetery, Lagos, to hide the murder.
Meanwhile, the suspects were arrested, but they denied the charges, but admitted to slapping the girl for denying that she stole the money.
They claimed the girl went into a seizure after drinking water before taking her to three different hospitals, where she ended up dying.
Police said she confirmed that the girl was buried by her parents and not by the suspects, adding that the parents were also contacted for her statements.
Lagos State Police Commissioner Hakeem Odumosu ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the Yaba State Criminal Investigation Department for a discreet investigation and diligent process.
The police assured that the suspects will soon be charged in court.
