Penn State disturbs No. 20 Ohio State 90-76

STATE COLLEGE, Pennsylvania (PA) – Lamar Stevens scored 14 of his 24 points in the second half and Penn State defeated Ohio State No. 20 in Ohio 90-76 on Saturday.

Myreon Jones scored 20 points, Seth Lundy added 12 and Myles Dread scored 10 for Nittany Lions (13-5, 3-4 Big Ten), who suffered a losing streak in three games.

Duane Washington Jr. had 20 points, Kaleb Wesson scored 19 points and Andre Wesson added 12 to the Buckeyes (12-6, 2-5 Big Ten) who lost for the fifth time in six games.

Nittany Lions led 15 at the break and up to 20 with 15:10 to play. They maintained a double-digit advantage for the rest of the game.

Kaleb Wesson's three-pointer pulled the Buckeyes within 12 with 2:39 remaining, but they didn't come close.

Ohio State's lone afternoon leadership came in the opening minutes, before Penn State used an 11-0 round to take control in the middle of the first half.

Washington ended the race with a three-point basket, Ohio's first basket in almost five minutes, before Penn State increased the lead to 14 with a run that included Stevens' five points.

The Buckeyes managed to reduce Penn State's lead to seven, with Andre Wesson's third of 3 points, but the Nittany Lions used a 14-6 streak in the final 3:14 to take a 42-27 lead into the locker room.

Ohio State: The Buckeyes have struggled to score during their recent skid. They were left with less than 60 points in each of the last four defeats. While eclipsing the 60-point threshold, they talked about easy shots all afternoon, losing 13 layups or dunking.

Penn State: The Nittany Lions did what they did best – played a strong defense, forced their opponents to make mistakes and capitalized on them. The Big Ten leader in steals and margin of turnover per game forced 13 gifts with nine steals, seven blocks and scored 19 points on turnovers.
