Ozzie Ardiles’ emotional tribute to Mauricio Pochettino after his Tottenham Hotspur sacking

Osvaldo Ardiles has sent a message to Mauricio Pochettino after the former Southampton manager was sacked by Tottenham Hotspur.

His fellow Argentinian had long been one of his most vocal supporters among the club’s cast of former players and coaches.

The 67-year-old managed Spurs himself for a spell between 1993 and 1994 which came to an end when he was sacked due to the team’s low league position.

Pochettino met a similar fate with Tottenham left to languish in 14th place with 12 games played and a record home defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich in the Champions League group stages.

He was dismissed less than six months on from leading Spurs to the final of that same competition where they were beaten by Liverpool.

On his official Twitter account, Ardiles spoke of his admiration for Pochettino and his work at White Hart Lane, Hotspur Way and the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

“One glorious chapter in our club history has come to an end today,” he tweeted.

“From my part I would like to say a big big thank you to Mauricio for everything he has done for our club.
