The Ogun state government said on Saturday that state students would be tested for COVID-19 before being allowed to enter schools.
The state governor's special adviser on primary and secondary education, Ronke Soyombo, who disclosed this in a statement, said the state Ministry of Health had made provision for COVID-19 and malaria tests for all in-state students.
She said that the public health units in the state where we opened the tests between July 31 and August 3 were the 250 MTR Okemosan, Abeokuta; Ogun State General Hospital, Ota University Hospital and Olabisi Onabanjo University, Sagamu.
Soyombo said: “To ensure a safe academic environment for student learning, the state government has instructed all principals of public and private schools to inform SSS 3 students that all returnees must remain in the school's hostels only.
“Private hostels are exempt from accommodating students during this period. Any missing school will be sanctioned accordingly. "
