The Federal Medical Center in Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, recorded two cases of coronavirus disease at the facility.
This was confirmed in a statement sent to television channels on Sunday by the center's head of public relations, Segun Orisajo.
According to him, three suspected cases were being handled at the Center's Accident and Emergency Complex last week.
“Two of the patients tested positive while one was negative. One of the patients who tested positive was a pregnant woman who died on Friday. His result came back positive on Saturday.
“Her body was released to her husband after careful advice and due adherence to the guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO) on this subject.
“The second patient is a young man who was transferred to an isolation center in the state. It is clinically stable. Both patients were treated at the Accident and Emergency Complex.
"They were suspected of cases from the start and therefore were isolated from other patients and staff throughout their stay at the unit," the statement said in part.
He noted that the team followed the prescribed standard protocols and procedures while attending to them.
For Orisajo, "the standard practice of tracking contacts started with decontamination".
