O2 DOWN: Network status latest, unable to make or receive calls error

O2 DOWN – UPDATE TWO: O2 has just provided customers in the UK with an update on the ongoing service problems they have experienced today.

O2 has confirmed that there is an issue that may be affecting some customers when they try to make or receive a call.

They added that data and text services are not affected, and more updates will be shared on the official website. O2 service status page.

In the last update, O2 said: "We are aware of an issue that may be affecting some customers who make and receive voice calls. Our technical teams are investigating.

"Data and text messages are not affected. We apologize for any inconvenience.

O2 DOWN – UPDATE ONE: O2 confirmed that they are investigating reports of a "problem" with their network coverage in the UK today.

The Drop Detector has seen a huge increase in O2 drop reports today since noon, with thousands of problems reported on the main mobile network.

Speaking of reported problems, an O2 spokesman said: "We are aware of an issue that may be affecting some customers today and our technical teams are investigating. We apologize for any inconvenience.

"Updates will be shared on our online status checker as they become available."

ORIGINAL: O2 downtime reports are currently emerging, with customers in the UK reporting problems making or receiving calls.

The interrupt independent monitor, Down Detector, saw a huge increase in O2 drop reports today.

Among those affected, 87% are experiencing problems with the mobile phone, with network and internet problems also reported.

The Down Detector interruption map says that O2 problems are mainly affecting users in England and parts of Scotland.

Today, O2 customers have accessed the social networking site Twitter to report problems with the service.

One tweeted: "@ O2 is there a problem with the network? It is not possible to make or receive calls and other people here with similar problems!"

And another one posted: "@ O2 has just been kicked out of a conference call, now unable to make calls or receive calls !!!"

While an O2 customer wrote: "# O2down O2 is disabled for calls".

At the time of writing, Down Detector UK recorded a peak of more than 5,0 000 inactive O2 reports.

The interruption monitor began to see an increase in O2 drop reports at around 12:00 (Brasília time).

The website also said that among the main areas affected by O2's network problems are London, Manchester, Liverpool, Bristol, Birmingham, Glasgow, Glasgow and Leicester.

Express.co.uk contacted O2 to comment on the service issues reported today.

Meanwhile, the official O2 service status page confirmed that the network is aware of an issue, with its teams currently investigating the issue.
