An Italian-Nigerian football player, King Paul Akpan Udoh, tested positive for the deadly Coronavirus 2019 disease (COVID-19).
Udoh, a Serie C player who plays for the football club Unione Sportiva Pianese, became the first player to be infected with COVID-19.
As reported by the Italian newspaper La Nazione, the 22-year-old "put himself into voluntary quarantine" when he suspected he was infected with the virus.
The report said that Udoh was later tested by doctors and that the result was positive.
Udoh played in several football clubs, including Reggiana, Juventus, Virtus Lanciano, among others.

Meanwhile, Nigeria confirmed its first case of COVID-19 on Friday after an Italian working in the country tested positive for the disease.
The Italian whose name was withheld would have returned to Lagos in Milan, Italy, on February 25.
Nigerian authorities are currently on the trail of those with whom the Italian may have had close contact.
