Nigeria witnessed an increase in COVID-19 cases on Saturday, registering more than 500 new infections in a single day for the first time.
The new cases were confirmed by the specialized agency, the Nigeria Disease Control Center (NCDC) on Twitter.
This brings the country's total infections to 9,855, of which 2856 were discharged and 273 lost their lives.
NCDC data showed that the cases were spread across 14 states and the FCT, with Lagos accounting for the highest number of infections of the day, with 378 cases.
