Suleiman is the first victim to die of the virus in the state.
Upon confirming the news to journalists on Sunday, May 3, 2020, in Lafia, the state capital, state governor, Abdullahi Sule, said the lawmaker died before his test result came back positive.
The governor maintained that the state assembly house complex would be closed and all lawmakers quarantined to contain a further spread of the virus.
Governor Abdullahi also announced the repatriation of about 788 almajiri children to their various states of origin.
He said the decision to repatriate them was taken when northern governors recently met in Abuja.
