Montana wildlife consultants warn hunters of bear encounters

MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) – Montana wildlife authorities have warned hunters of an abundance of each black and grizzly bears in western areas.

The Missoulian experiences that wildlife consultants are recommending fowl hunters, anglers and archers carry bear spray on their hip belts and are ready to make use of it shortly.

Specialists say pheasant looking season begins Saturday, however mountain grouse hunters, upland recreation fowl hunters and fishermen alongside rivers and creeks also needs to be ready.

Bear specialists say extra bears have been sighted in western Montana valleys and east close to the Rocky Mountain Entrance.

Specialists say they’ve obtained experiences of grizzly bear exercise in Blackfoot, Little Blackfoot, Lolo Scorching Springs, Clearwater and Deer Lodge areas.



Specialists say bear populations have slowly grown and expanded into historic territories so there are extra possibilities of encounters.
