Mike Trout says Max Scherzer is best pitcher he’s faced: ‘I was happy he left’ for National League

Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout praises the Washington Nationals ace Max Scherzer.

During a video chat on Instagram for Nike Golf, three-time champion MVP told professional golfer Brooks Koepka that Scherzer is the best pitcher he has ever faced in his career, calling the 35-year-old "unpleasant".

Trout, considered the best player in Major League Baseball, recalled the confrontation the two had during the 2018 All-Star Game at Nationals Park. Scherzer had hit the first two batters in six pitchers and then both fought, with Trout making a walk in an eight-pitch shot.

"I have to say Scherzer, man," said Trout. "I was happy when he left for the National League."

Scherzer left the Detroit Tigers and signed with the National in 2015.

Scherzer Trout faced 16 bats throughout his career, eliminating the eight-time All-Star 10 times. Trout has only an average of .188 hits against Scherzer with a home run.
