The Real Madrid and Barcelona player has been tested for Coronavirus. The tests come after the League clubs plan to return to restrictive training before the season resumes next month.
RTE Sport, which Barcelona captain Lionel Messi and French World Cup winner Antoine Griezmann, were among the players who arrived one by one in their cars at the club's training facility on Thursday morning. Real Madrid players, including Karim Benzema and Eden Hazard, also underwent health checks on Thursday morning at Madrid's training facilities.
The tests are based on La Liga's strict protocol, which teams must comply with before returning to training. Test results are expected within 48 hours. Atlético de Madrid will also be testing today and intends to return to training as soon as the results are known, as long as everything is fine.
The Spanish government announced a four-phase program early last week. In terms of football, the first phase would allow players to train alone, with a maximum of six players on the field at any one time. RTE informs that players must arrive for training dressed in the team kit; they should also wear a mask and gloves when they are not training. They will also receive a bag of clothes for the next day after each session.
The fourth stage, scheduled for June, would allow outdoor events to be held. However, these events could only be held with less than 400 people. The Straits Times report that La Liga is proposing to play the rest of the season behind closed doors with games starting in mid-June.
League president Javier Tebas also said: "The circumstances are unprecedented, but we hope to start playing again in June and end our 19/20 season this summer."
