MacBook Pro 13-inch: Why you need to spend big to get every new feature

Apple fans were treated with a new MacBook Pro last week with the US technology company unveiling its updated 13-inch models. These updated laptops come with the latest magic keyboard, more internal storage and a much more powerful processor, which will offer better performance for those who want to work on the go.

Prices start at £ 1,299, but it is worth noting that you will need to spend a lot more if you want all the extras we mentioned above.

The cheapest entry-level machine includes this better keyboard, and now you get twice as much storage with items that start with 256 GB, instead of the 128 GB found in the 2019 base model.

That's all good news, but unfortunately, there's no sign of the 10th generation Intel Core i5 or i7 brains on this laptop, with Apple including only the 8th generation chip on this machine – the same brains that power last year's machines .

If you want those much faster processors, you'll need to spend more money on the £ 1,799 boost for the 2.0Ghz quad-core i5 model and £ 1,999 if you want the power of the 2.3 GHz i7 chip.

These prices aren't cheap, but it's worth noting that if you're not worried about having a Pro on your lap, the new MacBook Air offers a very good alternative.

This machine was updated last month with more power and the inclusion of the updated and much improved magic keyboard.

For the same price as the entry-level Pro, you'll get an Air with a 10th generation i5 processor, 512 GB of memory and a 13.3-inch Retina Display.

The Air doesn't include the smart Touch Bar, which changes depending on the apps you're using, but you get a Touch ID fingerprint scanner and the industry-leading Force Touch trackpad.

There is no doubt that the new 13-inch MacBook Pro is suitable for users who want more performance, but it is definitely worth considering what you need from your laptop, as the new Air is a brilliant laptop with a very good value.

Advertisement has just received the top-of-the-line 13-inch MacBook and will bring a complete overhaul in the next few days, so watch this space.

If you've made up your mind, this new laptop is now available for purchase and ships immediately.

As we mentioned earlier, prices start from £ 1,299, available on Space Gray and Silver.

Currently, Apple also offers zero percent financing, which allows customers to own one at just £ 54.13 per month.
