The chairman of the board was responding to allegations on WhatsApp platforms that there are widespread cases of COVID-19 in the area.

The statement said: “My attention was drawn to a recorded audio report circulating from an unauthorized source on the alarming number of positive cases of COVID-19 at Amuwo Odofin LGA. It has become mandatory to make this address and official statement for the general benefit and safety of our personnel.

“First, the person who made and released the audio recording in question is not an authorized member of the local government team, nor is he an official with the NCDC (Center for Disease Control of Nigeria). Although she was hired as ad-hoc staff by the NCDC to work on an active case search in the local government area of Amuwo Odofin.
