The banned applications were "variants and cloned copies of the 59 Chinese applications that were banned in June. These banned clones include Tiktok Lite, Helo Lite, SHAREit Lite, BIGO LIVE Lite and VFY Lite," tweeted ANI.

“This second digital attack by our government on China is a big move again, as all of these 47 apps were operating as clones of the 59 Chinese apps banned from using previously. The ban would safeguard Indian users' data and protect the country from the potential threat that these applications pose to our national security. In addition, this initiative will open up even more opportunities for more Indian apps to adopt the spotlight and users on board to provide their services. Local apps have already witnessed a significant increase in downloads and user subscriptions on their platforms following the announcement of the government's ban last month. We hope that Indians will continue to choose applications made in India for India, ”said Piyush, CEO and founder of Rooters Sports Technology.

Earlier today, few reports also claimed that the Indian government prepared a list of 275 applications under scrutiny for breach of national security and user privacy. This list includes the PUBG Mobile, Ludo World, Xiaomi 14 Mi apps, AliExpress, Resso and ULike. Notably, however, the government is still silent on this.

The list of apps that were banned in June includes TikTok, Helo, Likee, CamScanner, Vigo Video, Clash of Kings as well as e-commerce platforms Club Factory and She inside.
