The government of the State of Imo ordered the closure of all tertiary institutions, primary and secondary schools in the state until further notice of the coronavirus outbreak.
Addressing state residents during a broadcast on Saturday, Governor Hope Uzodinma said an isolation center was set up in Owerri to quarantine anyone who tested positive for the virus.
The governor also asked the relevant authorities to ensure strict compliance with the guidelines.
According to him, measures were taken to test all passengers arriving at Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport with the symptoms of the Coronavirus.

He explained that any passenger who shows signs of symptoms will be taken first to a bay that was set up at the airport for further examination.
The measure comes 24 hours after the governor sets up a nine-member committee for the prevention of Corona virus disease (COVI-19).
The committee headed by the former president of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC); Professor Maurice Iwu must take proactive steps to prevent the spread of the disease that is devastating many parts of the world.
