Whatsapp is actively working to minimize the spread of erroneous information related to COVID-19. To educate users about what to trust and what not to trust in Coronavirus, WhatsApp has now launched a chatbot in collaboration with the Poynter Institute's International Fact Verification Network (IFCN), which will help combat fake news on the messaging platform.
It is currently available in English only, but Whatsapp announced that it will soon be available in Hindi, Spanish and Portuguese. The bot is specially made to check information about Coronavirus.
With this bot, the Whatsapp users will contact independent verifiers in over 70 countries and the largest database of unmasked falsehoods.
All you have to do is simply send a "Hi" on +1 72 72 91 2606 or click this link. You'll see a list of six indicators that include searching for fact checks, most recent fact checks, tips for fighting wrong information, finding fact verifiers near me, about us, and privacy. Just enter the number mentioned in front of your query and you're done.
According to a statement shared by Whatsapp, "The system is able to identify the user's country using the person's mobile country code and then provide them with the nearest fact-checking organizations. The person can send information for review directly to the local facts or visit the website to find out more about what's going on in the region. "
The chatbot is available to all users on Android and iOS.
