The EPCR Council reconfirmed the suspension of this season's Heineken Champions Cup and Challenge Cup tournaments and decided to postpone the semi-final matches, as well as the Marseille 2020 finals, which are to be played on 1/2/3 weekends and May 22/23, respectively.
In making the decision, the Council is complying with the official guidelines and recommendations of the relevant authorities in their territories to restrict the COVID-19 pandemic.
In light of the previous postponement of their quarter-final matches and with games in Europe's professional league competitions currently suspended due to the public health crisis, the EPCR believes that it is necessary to provide as much clarity as possible to all those interested in the knockout stages of their tournaments.
To that end, the EPCR is working with leagues and unions to restructure a conclusion to its season as part of a broader rescheduling of the rest of the season in Europe, with all contingencies underpinned by the requirement to protect health and well-being. of players, club officials, referees, fans and the entire rugby community.
The EPCR remains committed to the completion of the 2019/20 season of the Heineken Champions Cup and Challenge Cup, and is scheduled to reschedule the quarter-final and semifinal matches, as well as the Marseille finals, according to the games in the competitions league professionals, subject to guidance from the government and local authorities.
Tickets already purchased for the Marseille finals will be valid for the new dates when announced and, from that moment, fans who are unable to participate in the new dates will be entitled to a refund.
