…resumption of new entry scheduled for October
The Federal Government praised the governor of the State of Edo, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, for his administration's sustained investment in the state's educational sector, noting that government intervention in the sector is responsible for the success of Technical and Professional Education and Training (TVET) program in the state.
A delegation from the Federal Government led by the Secretary of Education of the National Commission of Colleges of Education (NCCE), Professor Bappa-Aliyu Muhammadu, praised during the inspection of the construction work in progress at Tayo Apkata University of Education, Ekiadolor, which is the website for the new Edo State Federal College of Education.
The team's inspection was to check the institution's preparedness level before the planned start of academic activities scheduled for October 2020.
Governor Obaseki visited the institution in May 2020, ensuring that the federal government delegation would be visiting the state to inspect the state of the College. The conversion of the university to a federal college of education is a disdain for the governor's meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on the location of one of the federal colleges of education in the country's six geopolitical zones in Edo.
Speaking shortly after the inspection, Muhammadu expressed satisfaction with the projects on the ground, adding that it was a clear indication of the state government's readiness to hand the institution over to the federal government for the start of academic activities.
He noted: “We are here to see the take-off facilities for the new Federal Faculty of Education. We can see that most of the structures are already here. President Muhammadu Buhari said that the institution will take off in October 2020 ″
In a separate remark, Edo State Commissioner of Education, Barr. Jimoh Jegbai, who represented the governor, praised President Buhari for making Edo State one of the beneficiaries of the establishment of Federal Colleges of Education.
A team from the institution, comrade Kenneth Omoruyi, thanked the leadership of the federal and state governments for making their dream come true.
He, however, assured the delegation of his full support to ensure that the federal institution prospered.
