Edo Guber: INEC obeys court order on Obaseki's participation in PDP primaries

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said it would obey Tuesday's order from the Supreme Federal Court in Port Harcourt, which prevented Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki from participating in the governing primaries of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday, June 25, 2020.

The National Commissioner and President of the INEC Voter Information and Education Committee, Festus Okoye, confirmed that the Commission, in accordance with its policy of respecting court orders, decided to respect the order of the Hon. Justice E.A. Obile,

It is recalled that, after an aspiring PDP governor, Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, entered with a sui, insisting that Obaseki did not purchase the PDP form or undergo a screening on schedule.

The Court, which ordered the hearing of the suit on Wednesday, June 24, 2020, also approved the accelerated hearing and determination of the Interlocutory Injunction Notification Motion.
