FRANKFURT (Reuters) – The European Central Bank currently does not see a "business case" for launching its own digital currency, but is studying how someone could work if that changes, said ECB board member Yves Mersch on Monday.
“The lack of a & # 39; business case & # 39; concrete for a CBDC (Central Bank digital currency) at the moment should and does not prevent us from seriously exploring the ideal design of a CBDC, so that we are well prepared if we make (this) political decision ”, said Mersch in a virtual conference.
