The Cross River State Police Command confirmed the arrest of four alleged kidnappers who paraded in the capital of Calabar.
This was confirmed on Monday by police public relations officer DSP Irene Ugbo, who also reported on the rescue of a 38-year-old victim identified as Cecilia Onyago.
According to the Ugbo DSP, the arrest of suspects identified as Eyo Nsa, also known as Eteobong, Okon Asuqwuo, also known as Okikpo, Ernest Okon Akpan and Paulinus Mbey Ogar, was a major advance for the state. Police Command.
The police PPRO said Onyago was rescued without ransom, adding: “We are working to ensure that the kidnapping no longer takes place in the state. We urge Cross Riverians to provide us with information that will allow us to work harder and choose these crooks wherever they are. "
DSP Ugbo said the victim and her husband were in their normal activities when armed hijackers kidnapped her on July 10, 2020, in the local government area of Akamkpa, in the state of Cross River.
“The police received calls for help from people and we took action. In an attempt to find out where the woman was taken, we found one of the suspects who led us to the arrest of other gang members.
"At the moment, the suspects are in our custody, many items have been recovered, including two vehicles, the Toyota Camry with the registration number NEM 828 AY and the Volkswagen Jetta with the registration number LSD 879 AV and several local weapons," said Ugbo.
Ugbo said the suspects gave the police useful information, adding: “As soon as the investigations are completed, the suspects will be accused of Court.
“We are very happy with the success registered, because Cross River State is known for being a place where people come and relax and the police work tirelessly to ensure that criminals are taken to the book.
