It was quite the performance from Leicester City star Ben Chilwell last night (Thursday) as England thrashed Montenegro at Wembley.
The full-back got the nod ahead of Tottenham’s Danny Rose for England’s 1000th game after impressing in Bulgaria last time out – and he did not disappoint.
The 22-year-old, who has been linked with a move to Chelsea , registered three assists in the game as he put in a fine showing for Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions, which earned him plenty of praise from pundits and fans alike.
Chelsea fans were among those taking notice of his performance, with some taking to social media to send a message to Blues head coach Frank Lampard.
Amid talk of a move to Chelsea at some point in the future, this was a very impressive audition from the Foxes full-back.
Left-back is certainly an area in which Frank Lampard could look to bolster when the west London outfit are next allowed to make signings.
Based on this showing, Chilwell would be an expensive one.
But some Chelsea fans will be hoping that the bond he has with some of the Blues stars might help to bring him to Stamford Bridge, with Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori among the first to congratulate Chilwell on being awarded the player of the match award.
Chilwell took to Instagram to post a picture of himself with the trophy, with Abraham and Tomori both commenting on the award.
Abraham, who scored his first England goal in the game, said: “Ballaaaaa” with a smiling face emoji and a heart, while Tomori posted “Chill” with three fire emojis.
And here’s what some Chelsea fans have been saying about Chilwell on social media.
