Caylin Newton, Cam Newton’s brother and former Howard quarterback, transferring to Auburn

AUBURN, Ala. – Former quarterback Howard Howard Caylin Newton, the younger brother of the former Carolina Panthers, Cam, says he is moving to Auburn.

Newton announced his decision on Twitter on Friday, following in his brother's footsteps. Cam Newton won the Heisman Trophy in 2010 while leading Auburn for the national championship.

The 6-foot, 195-pound Caylin Newton will be eligible immediately as a graduate transfer. He joined the NCAA transfer portal in October, after playing four games. He will continue with the Tigers, who are already at the limit of 85 players for the scholarship.

Newton was the offensive player at the 2018 Middle East Athletic Conference of the year after passing 2,629 yards and running 504 yards.

He was the league rookie of the year as a freshman.

Auburn Quarterback Bo Nix returns, but has little experience behind him.
