Buhari seeks Senate confirmation for SEC's new DG, commissioners

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, he asked the Senate to select and confirm a new director general and full-time commissioners from the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC).

The president's request was contained in a letter read by Senate President Ahmad Lawan, on Tuesday's plenary.


Those for screening and confirmation are Lamido Yuguda as the new Director General, while Reginald C. Karausa, Ibrahim D. Boyi and Obi Joseph Joseph for confirmation as full-time Commissioners.

The letter says in part: “In accordance with Section 3 and 5 (1) of the 2007 Investment and Securities Act, I am writing to request confirmation by the Senate, the appointment of the following four nominees as Director General and Commissioners of the Mobile values. Exchange Commission (SEC). Their resumes are attached.
