After days of intense negotiations, the Federal Authorities of Nigeria and the Labour Unions, have reached a deal on the implementation modality of the brand new minimal wage.
Recall, that the disagreement over how the brand new Minimal Wage Legislation signed by President Muhammadu Buhari, in April, could be carried out, had lingered for months, with the Organised Labour threatening to go on a strike.
The Minister for Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, disclosed the information of the much-awaited settlement, early on Friday morning, in Abuja, shortly after a authorities group which he led, concluded a gathering with Labour.

“For these on the second class of wages construction, CONHES, CONRRISE, CONTISS and so forth, Degree 7 will get 22.2 p.c, Degree 8-14 will get 16 per cent , Degree 15-17 will get 10.5 p.c.”
He acknowledged that the third class of the nation’s wage construction, that are Navy and Paramilitary Officers, have been additionally factored within the settlement.
