Reuters reports that the attack occurred in the village of Faduma Koloram, at the Gubio area of the local government of the state of Borno.
The terrorists arrived in vehicles and motorcycles, firing sporadically with AK-47s, razing the village and stealing 1,200 cattle and camels.
A member of the Joint Civil Task Force (CJTF) and a soldier confirmed the incident.
Boko Haram unleashed chaos in the community after suspicion that residents were sharing information about the sect's movements with security officials.
"It is an unhappy day for us to witness this" said CJTF fighter Kachallah Bumu.
Bumu also revealed that, although residents were always armed and repelled previous attacks, this caught them off guard.
"They took us by surprise and killed our people" he said.
Boko Haram and his splinter West African Province of the Islamic State (ISWAP) it has killed more than 50,000 people and displaced millions in the northeastern region of the country since it started an insurgency against the Nigerian state in 2009.
