20 minutes Frankfurt responded very well to the goal. Gacinovic enters the space on the right and crosses Andre Silva at the far post. It is a bit of a surplus, however, and Silva volleyes in the final stretch.
Is coming. Perisic throws the ball to the left to Muller, who enters the area and cuts the ball back to the edge of the area. Lewandowski lets it pass and gets in the way of Goretzka, who enters the ball and hits the roof of the net. Beautiful goal.
14 min: Another chance for Bayern! Kimmich plays Muller on the right, looks up and crosses the area. Pavard rises above the Frankfurt defense on the six-yard line, but hits Trapp with his head. He should have scored.
12 min: Chance for Perisic! Bayern are starting to threaten. Kimmich, 40 yards from goal, kissed a lovely pass over the defense to catch Perisic, who made a beautiful shot from the left. Perisic stretched volleyball for the first time – but went straight to Trapp.
11 min Perisic meets Davies, who is at sea, on the left. He moves into the box, cuts off his right foot and tries to slide the ball into Lewandowski. A Frankfurt defender – NO, I DON'T KNOW WHO IS – steps back and places the ball behind a corner. Whose…
8 min Bayern unsuccessfully appeal a penalty when Kimmich's corner is scored by Muller and hits a Frankfurt defender in the chest or arm. Even though it hit his arm, he was in a natural position and he was only a few feet from Muller.
4 min Kimmich loses the ball outside the Bayern area, but makes up for his mistake in blocking Gacinovic's shot. At the other end, Coman moves away from N'Dicka and falls, but no free kick is taken. I think there was contact from N'Dicka, although not intentionally.
Bayern Munich wants more than just three points today. They would like some of the old revenge for their humiliation at the Commerzbank Arena in November, when they were defeated 5-1 by Eintracht Frankfurt. It was Bayern's biggest defeat in a decade and inevitably led to to the booty of Niko Kovac. Great teams don't forget days like that.
Frankfurt were one point behind Bayern after the match. Sixteen games later, there are 30 points between the sides. While Bayern have been relentless with their new coach Hansi Flick, Frankfurt is at risk of sleepwalking towards a relegation battle.
The good news is that things get easier for them after today; this is the last game of the season against a team in the top five. If you offered Frankfurt a 2-0 defeat today, I suspect they would accept it. But I'm not sure if Bayern would accept a 2-0 win.
