BAKERSFIELD, California (AP) – Authorities are investigating the death of a arrested man after the sheriff's officers responded to a domestic violence incident in Southern California.
The Kern County Sheriff's Office said the department received several calls about the incident in a Bakersfield neighborhood in late April 30.
The officers used force to take the man into custody after he failed to comply, said the sheriff's office.
Shortly after his arrest, the man had an unspecified medical condition, officials said. The police provided assistance until medical personnel arrived, but the man died on the spot, according to KBAK-TV.
The man was not immediately identified.
The sheriff's detectives and the coroner's office are investigating.
