Arsenal donated £ 100,000 to various local charities in an attempt to support the battle against the coronavirus pandemic.

The North London club will also supply company cars to transport NHS workers and assist in the delivery of vital supplies, directed by Arsenal on the Community team.

An official statement said: “Arsenal Football Club has never shied away from responding to the needs of its community.

“In these times of uncertainty, we are taking a series of measures to ensure that our local and global communities receive our full support.

“The Arsenal Foundation will donate £ 100,000 to local charities and organizations that support the neediest during the COVID-19 crisis. We are in constant dialogue with the Islington Council and our partners in the NHS to ensure that this response is in line with their priorities and supports the most vulnerable.

”Another £ 50,000 already donated to local community initiatives by The Arsenal Foundation, in partnership with Islington Giving, will also be redirected to the Islington Giving Crisis Fund as part of this response from the COVID-19 community.

“As of Tuesday, March 24, we will make all cars of the Community Arsenal available for the transportation of NHS mental health professionals on the front line. Conducted voluntarily by Arsenal on the Community team, this service will support NHS workers in delivering vital medicines and emergency supplies. "
