Army promises to track and destroy BHT / ISWAP terrorists and bandits

The Nigerian Army says it is deeply saddened by the unfortunate incident in which suspected Boko Haram / ISWAP terrorists with some sleeping cells inside communities ambushed and killed innocent women and children in the village of Faduma Koloram, Gubio LGA of Borno State.

In a statement from its spokesman, Colonel Sagir Musa, the army revealed that a large contingent of military personnel had already been recruited in the general area to track and arrest or neutralize the perpetrators.

Colonel Musa's statement further noted that Theater Command, Operation LAFIYA DOLE was mandated to increase security, dominate the area and reassure communities affected by the Nigerian Army's commitment to protect the population.

Similarly, the Army said it is unaware of the banditry incidents recorded in the states of Katsina, Sokoto and Zamfara, adding that it obtained information that suggests that some bandits are changing bases and venting their anger at unfortunate citizens because of continued operations in the state of Katsina.

The army also stated that, while sympathizing with Nigerians and the good people of the states of Borno, Katsina, Sokoto and Zamfara in particular, in the unfortunate incidents, it would like to assure all Nigerians of their tireless efforts to engage with communities to free the population. society of any and all remnants of criminal elements.

“We would also like to declare that the Nigerian Army, together with the Nigerian Air Force, the sister service, other security agencies and the governments of the affected states, will make efforts to clean up all known hiding places for bandits in those states, as more troops are being deployed. headed by Mr. President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces.

"We would also like to ensure that these types of heinous crimes will not go unpunished and will not be allowed anywhere in our country," the statement said in parts.

Through its spokesman, the army reiterates that it is committed to investigating the circumstances of the insensitive attacks by Boko Haram's desperate criminals and bandits against innocent civilians.

The army also said it would ensure that appropriate actions are taken to mitigate any future incidents.
