SP Olugbenga Fadeyi, Public Affairs Officer for the Oyo State Police (PPRO), confirmed the incident in a statement released on Sunday in Ibadan.
Fadeyi said the deceased was wounded in the head in a church building in Shasha's Idi-ori area, near the expressway, by an unknown assailant at about 3 pm. on Saturday.
The PPRO said the investigation into the death of Oshiagwu, 21, had started and police tactical teams were on the trail of the attacker (s).
"Although efforts have been stepped up, we want to request reliable information from members of the communities in the region and the general public, so that we can unravel the misery behind these murders.Fadeyi said.
He said the corpse of the deceased had been deposited at Adeoyo State Hospital in Ring Road, Ibadan, for an autopsy.
However, a source who claimed anonymity told the Nigeria News Agency (NAN) that Oshiagwu was raped and injured to death.
NAN recalls that there have been frequent murders and rape cases in the Akinyele local government area in Ibadan in recent months.
An 18-year-old Barakat Bello was raped and killed on May 31 by unknown bandits.
Likewise, Azeezat Shomuyiwa, 29, who was seven months pregnant, was killed on June 5 on that axis.
