The board of directors on the side of the Professional Football League of Nigeria (NPFL), Abia Warriors, led by Pastor Emeka Inyama, provided loyal supporters to the club to cushion the strong effect of the coronavirus pandemic, Completesports.com reports.
The distribution of the aid packages, which mainly included food items, took place on Monday, May 4, 2020, at the club complex in Umuahia.
Pastor Emeka Inyama – executive president of Abia Warriors, presented the items on behalf of the club's board, management and players, thanking the Supporters Club for their full support.
"It is very necessary to contact them at times like this, they were surprising with their loyalty to the club and have never failed to provide their support to the team for a very short time," said Inyama.
"We, the board members, had to take charge of doing this on behalf of the administration and the players, and I know that this gesture will gladden your hearts, it is my sincere prayer that no one will be found wanting when the league starts again."
The chief of the Abia Warriors instructed the Club of Supporters to maintain all precautionary measures that will help them to remain safe.
The club's club president, Comrade Ifeanyi Okereke, in responding to the overwhelming gesture, thanked the club's board led by Pastor Inyama for having his well-being at heart during difficult times as a result of the deadly Coronavirus.
He reaffirmed the Supporters Club's unwavering support for the team.
Items made available to the Supporters club include food, hand sanitizers, liquid soap and undisclosed amount.
